Related, not identical
Jadeite ranges from opaque to semitransparent. Fine grain can support a smooth surface and bright polish, yet transparency also depends on inclusions, fractures, thickness and internal scattering. A fine texture does not guarantee identical transparency across a piece.

Observe thickness fairly
A thin edge transmits more light than a thick center. Comparisons are meaningful only when thickness, lighting and background are reasonably similar. Backlighting can reveal internal variation but may exaggerate brightness and should not be confused with ordinary wear appearance.

Surface and interior
A clean polish gives reflections clear edges. Diffuse or distorted reflections may relate to surface finish, curvature or underlying structure. Use a loupe for observation, not as a substitute for a laboratory conclusion.
